RNA Localization and Local Translation - 2024 (Conferences On-Demand)

July 07, 2024  - July 11, 2024

Since 1994, this SRC has provided a unique forum to share recent discoveries in subcellular mRNA localization and local translation. The conference is the best opportunity for scientists from diverse backgrounds including molecular and structural biology, cellular and developmental biology, neurobiology, and biophysics to network and collaborate on important research that can change lives. The intimate and inclusive format also focuses on providing young investigators and trainees to discuss, exchange ideas, and build new collaborations with experienced researchers. We particularly welcome participants from historically excluded groups. The program will focus on multi-disciplinary and multi-scale approaches to exploring the dynamic spatial organization and regulation of RNA metabolism in cells and tissues. The main themes will center around molecular mechanisms regulating mRNA transport, stability, and local translation. The program also will emphasize how cells harness RNA regulatory machinery to achieve tight spatial and temporal control of protein expression, and the contribution of these mechanisms to tissue organization and function. Topics will include long-standing questions related to RNA transport or translational control in health and disease, emerging concepts such as physical properties underlying RNA condensation or RNA hitchhiking on membranous organelles, as well as new technologies for discovery and analysis of localized RNAs and RNA-binding proteins or dynamic visualization of RNA metabolism.
